How to Fertilize the Garden With Litter
We think in fact how many kilos and kilos of feline waste thrown in the non-recyclable can pollute! Nowadays, we are all more informed and inclined towards recycling and the ecological disposal of waste.
In fact, the bedding can be reused to fertilize the vegetable garden and plants without resorting to chemical additives. Why throw it away if it can be useful?
And then it does not smell like manure since paper pellets absorb and retain odors.
Autumn is the optimal time to remineralize the soil and feed it before sowing!
HOW TO MAKE A NATURAL FERTILIZER WITH THE LITTER
We recommend using a pellet bed mixed with other waste substances. You should not throw all the sand in the ground but only the part to be replaced (containing the cat’s excrement).
MIX LITTER TO COMPOST
If you have a compost bin in the garden then you are in luck. The litter bin will macerate with the plant waste, disintegrating into a fine powder.
DIY FERTILIZER WITH COFFEE GROUNDS
If you do not have a garden or do not have large compost spaces, we suggest using a small domestic composter, to be set up on the terrace. In addition to our friend litter box, you can throw coffee grounds, used tea and chamomile filters, and why not, even barbecue ash and eggshells.
All these organic products are a real cure-all for growing vegetable plants in health.
To make the fertilizer more homogeneous, you can also add the cooking water of the vegetables. Nothing is thrown away here!
THE BEDDING IN THE COMPOST: PROJECTS
Obviously, to use compost, you have to wait for it to macerate enough. Take care to mix it well with the soil before proceeding with the sowing.
Pet droppings (cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs) are compostable. However, the following aspects must be taken into account:
- Only use a biodegradable litter and compostable. The litter in silicon or the classic sabbietta with chemical additives can not be used because they are harmful to the soil and for man.
- Compost heap must reach high temperatures (60-70) so that any pathogens are eliminated.
- Be careful not to overdo the doses or you could have the opposite effect (in the soil already rich in nutrients).
Not wasting and reusing helps to preserve our environment.
You too can make an ecological choice for your cat and keep your green corner healthy. Our daily gestures can make a difference.
